Comprehensive Environmental Remediation for an Occupied Midtown Residential Development
Challenge
ALC, working with a prime architectural firm and nationwide engineering firm, developed a comprehensive remedial action work plan for a large multi-family development in Midtown Manhattan totaling approximately 554,000 square feet and 430 residential units.
Work
Our scope of work addressed environmental conditions across a large-scale, occupied setting, requiring careful coordination and interaction with existing tenants. ALC completed Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments as well as lead-based paint, asbestos, and mold investigations.
Impact
In response to our findings, ALC designed a sub-surface depressurization system to meet the regulatory requirements imposed by two public agencies (city and state). Our team effectively mitigated the risk of sub-surface vapor intrusion, supporting a healthier indoor environment while protecting the existing building infrastructure.
