The term “sick building syndrome” (SBS) is used to describe situations in which building occupants experience acute health and comfort problems that appear to be linked to time spent inside the building, but no specific illness or cause can be identified. In contrast, the term “building related illness” (BRI) is used when symptoms of diagnosable illness are identified and can be attributed directly to airborne building contaminants.*
MOLD AND INDOOR AIR QUALITY SERVICES INCLUDE:
Our NYS Model Assessors and remediators have addressed moisture intrusion issues in thousands of buildings across the United States and internationally. These professionals have been involved in projects from single family residences to some of the largest regional responses in history.
ALC provides a full range of investigative services including odor investigations, post catastrophe damage assessments, remediation design, post clearance investigation, and moisture mapping.
Indoor air quality services include testing of air pollutants, assessment of ventilation system, assessment of heating and cooling systems, sampling of mold spores and bacteria, inventory of chemicals and solvents, comprehensive reports and sampling of mold spores and bacteria.
Silica compliance program design and air monitoring is provided to employers involved in the cutting, abrading, grinding or breaking of concrete or concrete containing surfaces. This issue is quickly becoming one of the most frequently cited safety issues in NYC and throughout the US.
ALC’s Industrial Hygienists can conduct air monitoring for any airborne contaminant and can assist in developing reasonable engineering controls to control any observed hazard.
We can conduct the required Job Hazard Analysis and then provide the training and PPE that is required.

ALC provides a complete work plan offering multiple options for remediation. We supply our clients with a detailed description of work to be done and the criteria used for evaluating the effectiveness of the abatement. The work plan can be used as a template for determining bids from contractors. As part of Remediation Design, ALC will also provide the following services:
